Class Objectives:

1. Assessment Proficiency: Develop proficiency in conducting thorough assessments as a medical massage therapist, including subjective pain scales, range of motion assessments, pliability grading scales, and visual assessments.

2. Goal Setting and Planning: Learn to collaboratively set realistic, measurable, and meaningful functional goals with clients, employing the SMART criteria. Develop skills in crafting effective treatment plans based on assessment findings.

3. Progress Tracking: Understand and implement a systematic approach to track client progress during and after medical massage therapy sessions. Utilize various assessments and documentation techniques to quantify and evaluate outcomes.

4. Communication and Collaboration: Enhance communication skills with clients, family members, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals. Emphasize the importance of collaboration for holistic client care.

5. Legal and Ethical Considerations: Gain awareness of legal and ethical considerations in the practice of medical massage therapy. Understand and adhere to privacy standards, HIPAA compliance, state and local regulations, and maintain professional and general liability insurance.

Prerequisites for This Class

  • Be a licensed massage therapists in Texas to successfully complete the course and apply it towards continuing education units in Texas.
  • If you are not licensed in Texas, you can still take the course to learn how to chart and track progress in medical massage therapy. However, please note that it will not apply towards continuing education in your state, as I am not yet nationally certified.
